Florida TIPS Certification

Responsibe alcohol training is not mandated by the state of Florida. However, some Florida Insurance companies have made certification mandatory for the bars to purchase liquor liability insurance. The state of Florida does offer mitigating benefits to servers who have been certified in the event of violations.

TIPS Alcohol Training Online is accepted statewide for use in Florida.

Dram Shop Liability Laws Florida has a modified Dram Shop Law which provides that a person who sells or furnishes alcoholic beverages to a person of lawful drinking age (21) can't be held liable for injury or damage caused by or resulting from the intoxication of such person, unless the person selling or providing the alcoholic beverage sells the beverage to a minor (under 21), or to someone who is known to be habitually addicted to the use of any or all alcoholic beverages. In such cases the person selling or providing the beverage may incur civil liability.

  • Polidies Regarding Underage Persons - Florida

    It is unlawful to serve or sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. It is illegal for a minor to consume alcohol in the presence of a parent or legal guardian either on or off a licensed premises. Please see Chapter 562.13 of the Florida Statutes for employment requirements of barbacks/busboys, etc.

    Liquor Liability - Florida

    Non-Alcoholic Beer & Wine - Florida treats all beverages with more than .05% alcohol the same as any other alcohol beverage.

    Liquor Liability - Following is a list of some of the possible penalties for selling alcohol to an underage person: First offense - $1,000 and 7-day license suspension; Second offense within 3 years - $3,000 and 30-day license suspension; Third offense within 3 years - license revocation. Recovation.

    Happy Hour Laws - Florida does not have specific laws relating to happy hours or drink specials. Licensees do not receive tax breaks on any type of promotion. Licensees may offer food and drink combinations to consumers for a special price.
